It’s a hot day in Dustbowl. The scorching sun beats down on the lone RED mercenary working away in the building containing the team’s second Control Point. Clangs resound throughout the empty battlefield. He grabs a rag from his belt and wipes the sweat from his forehead after adding the last touches to the level 3 sentry gun.

A job well done, the Engineer thinks.

He’s a strategist, although some of his teammates tend to drift towards the term ‘coward’. He’d gladly move up if someone stayed behind. However, no one did. So he’s taken on the job of eliminating any BLUs who slip through their forward defenses.

Satisfied with his work, the Texan jogs back to the spawn point, resupplying his metal cache and getting to work building a teleporter just outside the doors to go with the exit he placed by his sentry.

A loud noise erupts from his belt. He doesn’t need to look at the device to know what it means. Someone is damaging his sentry. The Engineer leaves the teleporter entrance to rush over to his gun, clutching his wrench in one hand while the other keeps his hardhat in place.

Laughter.

He hears it beside him, as if someone is running in the opposite direction, but there’s no one there. It’s mischievous, and even more than that, undeniably feminine.

Oh. Her again.
